Blackboard Collaborate – Web-Conferencing Solution
      Blackboard collaborate is UL Lafayette’s sponsored web-conferencing solution several 100-seat rooms available for reservation. E-instructors who want to host synchronous events with their classes, that allow students to be in different locations may schedule use of one of UL Lafayette’s Web-Conferencing rooms. Reserve a vOffice Web-conferencing Room
   

To reserve one of the vOffice rooms shown above, follow these easy steps.

  1. Request a room - Using your UL Lafayette Zimbra account, send an email to distancelearning@louisiana.edu with the following information.
    • Course or event and topic name
    • Instructor or moderator name
    • Date
    • Start time
    • End time
  2. Receive confirmation - Requests will be filled on a first come first serve basis.  Fixed reservations will have priority over tentative reservations.  You will receive your reservation confirmation in the form of a Zimbra calendar request.

SUGGESTION: Students may not know how to use the features available in the vOffice.  Below are links that you can make available to students so they can prepare to attend class online.

UL Lafayette has partnered with ProctorU to provide live online proctoring services for students taking exams online. Students are able to schedule exam appointments 20 hours a day / 7 days a week from 7:00am - 11:45pm (Central Standard Time).

Skype - Conduct Your E-Office Hours From Anywhere
Effective e-instructors schedule e-office hours for their students. Skype provides a free voice over Internet protocol solution for your hybrid or online students to connect to you and ask questions. Faculty engagement in UL Lafayette e-courses is critical to successful student engagement. Connect to your students using SKYPE for E-Office Hours - http://www.skype.com.

Turnitin
The University has purchased and integrated Turnitin software into Moodle. Faculty may create Turnitin assignments in Moodle to take advantage of the Origaniality Checker and GradeMark services offered by Turnitin.
